My family was away recently, which meant: Friends binge-watching! I’m neither proud nor ashamed, just uncharacteristically content. As I’ve shared here before, language is socially constructed–always. It’s a really important idea for teachers, parents, and students to understand. If language is socially constructed, it means the adults’ role is to assume less about what “correct” or “proper” language is and to create opportunities for students to practice language use and to reflect collectively about their language usage. Professor Tribbiani, show them what I mean.
