For the Love of Libraries in 35 Photos

Literacy never looked so lovely.

Libraries are one of the most important educational institutions throughout the world. Period. Unlike schools, which operate in the crosshairs of politics and regulation, libraries provide open opportunities for learning that can respond nimbly and boldly to the changing needs of society. That might be why I loved this photographic list from The Atlantic, which presents nearly three dozen snapshots of libraries at their grandest and realist. I have been to #s 2, 6, 7, and 23 (and I now want to plan a trip to La Tete Carrée in Nice, France–see below). Which libraries have you visited? What can we learn about learning in schools from libraries?
